Pardus 25.0 Release Notes

This is the first point release of Pardus 25. Simply keeping your system updated is enough to receive all the latest changes. You will receive update notifications directly on your current Pardus 25 installation. Alternatively, you can perform the update manually via the Pardus Update app.

Major Changes

  • General improvements were made to the Pardus Software Center server (https://apps.pardus.org.tr).
  • Improvements were made to the About Pardus application.
    • Interface and backend optimization and improvement tasks were performed.
    • The "Generate System Report" feature was added.
    • Boot time has been accelerated.
    • The range of scanned hardware was expanded.
    • The ability to change the machine name was added.
  • Improvements were made to the Pardus Wireless Hotspot application.
    • A "Connected devices" section was added.
    • A workflow to add users without network permissions to the required group was added.
    • Connection drop issues (D-Bus) after lock/wake were fixed.
    • Backend optimization and improvement tasks were performed.
  • Improvements were made to the Pardus Xfce login screen.
    • Network status change detection improvements were made.
    • Interface improvement tasks were performed.
  • Improvements were made to the Pardus My Computer application.
    • Size calculation processes were improved.
    • Backend optimization and hardening tasks were performed.
  • Improvements were made to the Pardus Night Light application.
    • Automatic night light support with a scheduling feature was added.
    • Color support for Wayland and different desktop environments was added.
    • Bi-directional synchronization with GNOME night light was established.
  • Improvements were made to the Pardus Package Installer application.
    • Drag and drop support was added along with interface improvements.
    • Backend optimization tasks were performed.
  • Improvements were made to the Pardus Software Center application.
    • Application action button and application search process were improved along with interface enhancements.
    • Backend optimization and hardening tasks were performed.
  • Improvements were made to the Pardus Updater application.
    • Backend optimization and hardening tasks were performed along with interface improvements.
  • Improvements were made to the Pardus Xfce Tweaks application.
    • The language-switching interface and infrastructure were renewed.
  • Improvements were made to the Pardus Java Installer application.
    • Oracle Java 11 was added.
    • Java versions were updated.
  • The latest versions of enterprise applications were added to the repository.
  • External applications in the repository (Android Studio, PyCharm, Google Chrome, AnyDesk, TeamViewer, VS Code …) were updated and new external applications were added.
  • The default web browser Firefox was upgraded to version 140.9.
  • The default office suite “LibreOffice” was updated.
  • The default media player "VLC" was updated.
  • The server version was updated.
  • Vagrant, Docker, and cloud images were updated.
  • Linux Kernel version was upgraded to 6.12.74.
  • Package updates with necessary patches and maintenance were included along with Debian 13.4 updates.
  • Updates containing over 200 packages and patches were delivered to the installed system.
  • Over 2000 packages were updated in the repository.
