Pardus 25.2 Release Notes

This is the second point release of the Pardus 25 family. Keeping your Pardus 25 system up to date is all you need to do to benefit from the latest changes.

Updates will appear as notifications on your existing Pardus 25 system. You can update your system using the Pardus Updater application.

Major Changes

  • Improvements were made to the Pardus About application.
    • The interface for changing the machine name was redesigned, and related functions were improved.
    • Security improvements were made.
    • General user interface improvements were made.
  • Improvements were made to the Pardus Wireless Hotspot application.
    • The ability to disconnect connected devices was added.
    • General backend optimizations were made.
  • Improvements were made to the Pardus NVIDIA Installer application.
    • The processes for installing and removing NVIDIA drivers and switching to Nouveau were improved.
    • Old and incompatible packages are now removed when switching NVIDIA drivers.
    • Multi-GPU and secondary GPU management, as well as hardware detection, were improved.
    • CUDA repository selection and compatibility with Pardus 25 were improved.
    • APT operations were made more secure, with improvements to package verification, rollback on failure, and cache usage.
    • NVIDIA package detection and installation order were reorganized, resolving various installation issues.
    • The user interface and overall user experience were improved.
    • Performance improvements reduced the application's startup time.
    • Various bug fixes, code cleanups, translation updates, and documentation updates were made.
  • Improvements were made to the Pardus Software Center application.
    • Security improvements were made.
    • Backend optimizations were made.
  • Improvements were made to the Pardus Updater application.
    • Security improvements were made.
  • Improvements were made to the Pardus USB Formatter application.
    • Support for the Btrfs file system was added.
    • USB encryption using LUKS was added.
    • The USB formatting infrastructure was modernized and migrated to an argparse-based implementation.
    • Support for NVMe and eMMC drives was improved.
    • Disk wiping, partition creation, and device re-detection processes were made more reliable.
    • Automatic cleanup of open LUKS/Device Mapper mappings and mount points was implemented.
    • Various bug fixes and stability improvements were made to the formatting process.
  • Improvements were made to the Pardus Java Installer application.
    • Java versions were updated.
    • General backend optimizations were made.
    • General user interface improvements were made.
    • Security improvements were made.
  • Improvements were made to the Pardus Boot Repair application.
    • The operating system detection infrastructure was rewritten in Python.
    • Disk detection, LVM/LUKS management, and automatic mounting processes were improved.
    • Various bug fixes, along with stability and security improvements, were made.
  • The latest versions of enterprise applications were added to the repository.
  • Third-party applications available in the repository (Android Studio, PyCharm, Google Chrome, AnyDesk, TeamViewer, VS Code, etc.) were updated, and new third-party applications were added.
  • The default web browser, Firefox, was updated.
  • The default office suite, LibreOffice, was updated.
  • The server edition was updated.
  • Vagrant, Docker, and cloud images were updated.
  • The Linux kernel was upgraded to version 6.12.95.
  • Debian 13.5 updates were incorporated, along with package updates containing the necessary patches and maintenance fixes.
  • Updates containing more than 200 packages and patches were delivered to existing installations.
  • More than 2,000 packages in the repository were updated.
